Tributes Continue for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the duo.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt prepared to post publicly about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can now put my grief into words," shared Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the film, commenting that he could not remember "a single day without mirth".
"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge decided to prevent the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A court order placed a embargo on the files to prohibit the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" connected to the probe.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the result of murder, with a record citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
After the killings, public personalities offered divergent responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing divisive remarks that were broadly criticized by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his criticism to the those speaking out recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan characterized the remarks as "shocking" and suggested they showed a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by proposing that an adviser should have stepped in when the impulse to comment on the passing was made.
