Ex-Treasury chief Lawrence Summers is departing from the governing body at the artificial intelligence firm, just a week after a batch of emails between him and notorious criminal the accused trafficker became widely known.
The economist stated in a release that he was "appreciative for the opportunity to have served, enthusiastic about the prospects of the organization, and look forward tracking their progress".
Summers, who previously headed the prestigious university, declared on Monday that he would be withdrawing from public commitments due to his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

The freshly disclosed communications revealed that the official corresponded with Epstein until the 24 hours preceding his 2019 apprehension for suspected sex trafficking of young people.
In another announcement, the AI firm said it respected Summers' choice to depart.

This news arrives after the two houses of Congress agreed on Tuesday to endorse a measure that would require the federal prosecutors to make public its records on the case.
